Cairo, Egypt was known as "the victorious" (al qahira) founded in 641 A.D by an Arab Commander. Later on it became the Capital in Egypt. Cairo was one of the most important places to trade during the Medieval Trade routes, and because of this it became well develop. Cairo became one of the largest city in Africa and Middle East with the development of important political and culture focal point in the region. Many trade routes diffused ideas to the Cairo region such as religions, language, culture and domestication of animals.
Trade routes wasn't the only thing that was successful in Cairo's development. Empires such as Pharaohs, Arabian Caliphs, Britain, Rome, and Ottomans all conquered Cairo bringing many different ideas into the region. For instance, when Rome conquered Cairo it established a large town in the area creating the first large-scale permanent settlement in the region.
